Position: Counselor, Children First Leadership Academy- Phoenix, AZ (CFLA)

About The Position

School Counselors act as the bridge between a student's personal well-being and their academic trajectory. Counselors provide comprehensive school Social Work Services to students, parents and school staff, addressing barriers that limit a student from receiving the full benefit from their educational experience. They respond to referrals from School Administration, Parents, Teachers, and others by providing direct services and by assisting families in accessing the unique community resources available at CFLA.

Position

Qualifications Education
  • Master’s degree in counseling
Experience
  • 1 year of counseling experience
Other Requirements
  • Arizona Counselor Certificate.
  • Must possess the ability to hold/obtain a Valid IVP Fingerprint clearance card by the time of hire.
  • Must possess the ability to hold a valid Arizona Driver’s License by the time of hire.
Preferred Requirements
  • 3 years of counseling experience
Essential Job Tasks
  • Establish communication between school staff, parents, students, District Administration, community members and intergovernmental agencies. Act as a liaison between classroom teacher and student.
  • Provide academic counseling and guidance.
  • Comply with Arizona revised statutes, district policies and administrative guidelines.
  • Provide consultation and coordination of resources to students, staff and parents.
  • Utilize appropriate counseling techniques to meet student needs.
  • Participate in program development.
  • Initiate and implement intervention and prevention strategies.
  • Coordinate administration of state mandated tests and other assessments.
  • Assume a leadership role as designated.
  • Maintain professional responsibilities.
  • Assist in collection of data for Federal and State program reporting.
  • Attend professional development workshops in job related areas.
  • Seek community resources to assist with special projects.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
