Salary Range: $26,535 - $34,473

Qualifications

Bachelor of Arts Degree

Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate

Appropriately Certified

Valid and current SEI, BLE, or reading, writing, listening and speaking ESL Endorsement

Three (3) years or more experience teaching in English Language Development environments.

Valid Driver's license

Preferred, Master's Degree demonstrating leadership and ELD endorsements

Job Goal

Support newcomer students in the Madison School District with academic and cultural adjustment. Lead English Language Learners to increased demonstration of English proficiency, using knowledge and expertise in English Language Proficiency (ELP) standards, Structured English Immersion (SEI) models, systematic reading instruction, and using assessment data to guide instruction. Support site AZELLA assessment planning. Plan collaboratively with staff at all grade levels to effectively implement SEI strategies, utilize supplementary materials, and effectively implement intervention programs.

Design effective intervention lessons, progress monitoring, and training for staff as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Provide support to students navigating social and cultural expectations.
  • Develop and implement lessons that support student acclimation to school in Madison.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil using ELP Standards.
  • Task analyzes and translates lessons into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
  • Teaches district-approved curriculum.
  • Uses effective Classroom Management techniques.
  • Establishes, shares, and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
  • Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
  • Teaches curriculum aligned to state standards.
  • Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education needs aligned to AZELLA data.
  • Effectively utilizes district technologies appropriate to the position and assumes responsibility for attending district training needed to successfully perform designated responsibilities as directed by the supervisor.
  • Maintains a safe environment for students, conducive to learning.
  • Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified by District policy.
  • Provides instructional intervention to K-8 students in district adopted intervention programs.
  • Works collaboratively with K-8 instructional coaches/interventionists and teachers
  • Assists with disaggregation and interpretation of assessment data to develop interventions to increase achievement in reading.
  • Assists in test administration and entering of assessment data.
  • Anticipates and effectively addresses unforeseen crises associated with working with children.
  • Maintains regular attendance
  • Complies with State Law and District policies and regulations.
  • Work closely with the District TOA ELD Instructional Coach to plan and deliver services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
