Job Description:

The Career Coach role at Thunderbird School of Global Management provides career advisement and professional counseling to domestic and international graduate students and alumni through all steps of the career development process; administer and interpret career interest and personality assessments, teach internship/job research, guide career decision-making, and coach on job search preparation and strategy. Design, prepare, and deliver presentations on career development and job search topics.

Develop and maintain relationships with campus partners and coordinate special projects as assigned. Reports to Director, Career Management Center, Student Success.

Schedule:

Thunderbird Career Management Center serves students and alumni in the office and at events that typically take place Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, with additional evenings and weekends required. Staff have varied schedules during these time frames to support students and alumni.

Salary Range: $51,500 - $59,000 to commensurate with education and experience

Essential Duties:

  • Conduct one-on-one coaching sessions to assess students' needs, establish career goals, and develop individualized action plans.
  • Plan, develop, and implement career exploration programs and events, including career fairs, employer visits, industry tours, workshops, and educational opportunity programs.
  • Coach students in resume writing, interviewing, and job search strategies using appropriate resources and tools.
  • Design, develop and facilitate e-learning and in-person workshops and presentations on career development, job search strategies, and professional readiness.
  • Grade and provide guidance on course assignments, including resume feedback, job search plans and networking strategies.
  • Advise students on career exploration, decision-making, internships, job searches, and the skills and qualifications needed for career success.
  • Administer and interpret career assessments to help students identify interests, strengths, values, and career pathways.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of student interactions, programming, outreach activities, and required reports.
  • Manage caseload of up to 140 students; guiding them through every stage of the job search.
  • Prepare reports on students and activities as required.
  • Supports department and university-wide initiatives.
  • Train students to effectively use Career Services resources, including 12

    Twenty and other online career platforms.
  • Assumes or coordinates other duties or projects as assigned or directed.

  • Knowledge of career planning theory and process, practice and techniques, including the administration and interpretation of career inventories and other assessment tools.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and public speaking skills.
