Job Site: Elementary School

FSLA Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt position

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Governing Board Approval: $16.00-$18.00 per hour. Traditional school year position.

Job Summary

At Wilson School District, we believe that education should be shaped by a sense of purpose. As the Library Assistant, you will assist in providing a well‑organized, smoothly functioning library environment in which staff and students can make the most effective use of instructional materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plans, organizes, and completes duties as they apply to the library operation.
  • Processes newly received materials and inventories materials.
  • Processes notices and visual materials under direction of the supervisor (posters, flyers, etc…)
  • Supports the Leadership Team with district and state assessments.
  • Assists the MTSS facilitators with testing.
  • Assists with duty coverage.
  • Provides information and help to any teacher or student as needed.
  • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
  • Maintains cooperative relations with others.
  • Performs other duties as directed by supervisor.
Minimum Education And/Or Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Computer knowledge preferred but not required.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
Preferred Education And/Or Experience
  • Two (2) year degree or actively pursuing post‑secondary education.
  • Computer knowledge preferred but not required.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
  • Prior successful experience in library or assessments work desirable

DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and talk or hear and sometimes walk and sit. The employee must use hands, arms and fingers to input data, handle, feel or reach; employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs. such as boxes, supplies, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud and can vary in temperature. The nature of this position is fast‑paced and may occasionally be thought of as stressful. Through interaction with the public and other district employees, the employee may encounter different scents.
