Assistant, Associate or Full Professor, Department of Psychiatry (MD and/or PhD) (Phoenix)

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix seeks faculty specializing in research on etiology and/or treatment of psychiatric disorders. Reporting directly to the Chair, the preferred candidate will have an established research program specializing in genomics, transcriptomics, neuroimaging, animal models, pharmacology, or related fields applied to illnesses such as schizophrenia, mood and anxiety disorders, and substance dependence.

Applicants must possess a PhD and/or MD (or equivalent), postdoctoral training in the proposed field, and experience supervising research projects, managing budgets, procuring equipment, and implementing research policies. A strong track record of publishing peer‑reviewed manuscripts and grant applications is required, as is experience submitting intramural and extramural research grant proposals. The candidate will also participate in the educational, training, and service missions of the Department and College.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a federally funded and internationally competitive research program in causes and treatments of psychiatric disorders.
  • Publish research findings in leading journals.
  • Develop collaborations with pertinent faculty within the college and partner institutions.
  • Contribute to the teaching and service missions of the college.
  • Engage in external academic and professional activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD and/or MD (or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • Postdoctoral training in the field of research and experience commensurate with appointment at the rank of assistant professor or above.
  • Eligible for a University of Arizona academic appointment at the assistant professor level or higher.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated scholarly accomplishment in research.
  • Experience as principal investigator and evidence of active extramural funding.
  • Outstanding record of research accomplishments.
  • Experience submitting grant proposals and supervising research staff.
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Teaching experience with medical and/or graduate students.

Salary and Benefits
