Position Overview
As an ASU City Year Student Success Coach (ASU SSC), you will coach and mentor elementary and high school students in the Phoenix area, helping them achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors. You will plan and monitor student progress, support teachers in classroom instruction, and collaborate with schools and City Year staff.
Key Responsibilities- Provide small group and one‑on‑one academic support in literacy and/or math.
- Support student engagement and help create a positive school climate.
- Track student progress and support data‑informed instruction.
- Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and City Year staff.
- Participate in training and ongoing development.
- Support fundraising and capacity‑building tasks.
- Maintain professionalism and reliability in a structured school environment.

- Ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally stand or walk.
- Manual dexterity for typing, writing, and handling office equipment.
- Visual acuity to read screens and printed materials.
- Hearing ability to participate in conversations and respond to phone calls.
- Occasional lifting or carrying of items up to 10–20 lbs.
- Ability to communicate clearly in person, by phone, and in writing.
Operates in a school environment with extended interaction with students and adults; requires occasional travel to school site and training locations.
Typical schedule:
Monday‑Friday, 7:00a.m. to 3:30p.m.; noise level is generally high. Regular use of computers, tablets, and other technology is required.
Part‑time, temporary (limited benefits) position. Staff are scheduled to work up to 28 hours per week during standard school hours, Monday through Friday. Occasional additional hours may be required for training or special events.
Compensation$20 per hour, 28 hours per week. Pay is bi‑weekly.

U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with authorization to work in the U.S.; age 17–25 by July
12026; currently enrolled as an ASU Mary Lou Fulton College for Teaching & Learning Innovation student; agree to and complete comprehensive background checks.
