The Wilson School District is seeking a highly qualified and certified Spec. Ed. Self-Contained Teacher to teach for the school year. The district offers a competitive hiring salary ranging from $57,500.00 to $58,500.00 per year. Additional allowances include a $7,000 Classroom Site Fund/Prop 301 (included in the salary) and a maximum of $3,500 in experience-based incentives for up to 10 years of teacher experience (e.g., BA+15hrs $1,140, BA+30 $ 2,280, BA+45/MA $3,420).
Other possible payment for eligible teachers: $3,000 for National Board Certified, $1,500 for BLE, $1,000 for ESL, $500 for Prov ESL. A performance pay up to $3,000.00 may apply.
Stipend for hard-to-fill special education positions: $2,000 Special Ed Teacher, $1,500 Math Teacher, $1,500 Science Teacher, $1,000 Speech/Language (SLP) Position. Teachers will be eligible for one hard-to-fill stipend.
Responsibilities- Implement district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals, establish desired student performance objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate these objectives to students.
- Assess student performance to determine whether objectives are being achieved and refer students for specialized help when necessary.
- Plan a program of study based on identified student needs.
- Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
- Evaluate student accomplishments and provide progress reports as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Maintain accurate permanent academic and attendance records of students.
- Make decisions to promote or retain a pupil in grade.
- Provide a physical and psychological atmosphere conducive to learning, holding students to strict account for disorderly conduct.
- Supervise pupils on playgrounds before and after school, during recess, and all other periods of the school day.
- Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and Governing Board policy.
- Attend and participate in general faculty and department meetings and serve on school and district committees.
- Confere with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.
- Cooperate with other staff members in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Enforce the course of study, use adopted textbooks, and assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional material.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others and be actively and harmoniously involved in community activities.
- Prepare all reports required by law, policy, and administrative regulation.
- Perform other reasonable duties as directed by the Principal.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university.
- Appropriate teaching certificate issued by the State of Arizona.
- Knowledge of basic activities pertaining to the daily supervised activities of students toward the attainment of their potential for academic, intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth.
- Knowledge of effective classroom management and discipline procedures.
- Maintain accurate, efficient record‑keeping processes.
- Written and verbal communication.
- Work independently and prioritize a variety of tasks, especially at the grade level.
- Adapt to changing technology and utilize available tools and resources.
