Position Summary
Grand Canyon University (GCU) collaborates with nonprofit organizations designated by the IRS as 501(c)(3). In partnership with Victory Schools located at 3535 N. 63rd Avenue, Phoenix, AZ, 85033, student workers support the school’s mission of providing equitable educational opportunities for K‑12 students, including those with autism. The role is classified as Community Service (CSLP) per 34 CFR 675.2(b) and is open to non‑GCU community members based on the school’s operating hours.
Student workers are limited to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters.
- Assist with individual and group learning projects in subjects such as spelling, reading, mathematics, and comprehension.
- Provide instructional support and demonstrate learning techniques to aid student progress.
- Monitor student behavior, enforce school and classroom policies, and maintain a safe environment in the cafeteria, playground, and during recess.
- Report incidents or injuries to school administration and prepare related documentation.
- Accompany students between classrooms and other school areas, ensuring orderly conduct.
- Prepare and organize classroom materials, set up tables and chairs, distribute resources, and clean up after activities.
- Communicate with parents regarding progress, behavioral concerns, and academic improvements, interpreting communications between teachers and parents when necessary.
- Assist teachers in planning and coordinating lesson plans by offering ideas and feedback based on student needs.
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s program at GCU, full‑time status.
- Minimum 2.0 GPA for bachelor’s students or 3.0 GPA for master’s students.
- Good financial and academic standing (SAP) with the University.
- Passion for helping others succeed and a strong sense of ethics and responsibility.
- Ability to obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Previous mentoring experience is a plus.
- Second‑language proficiency is desirable.
- Reliable transportation.
