Strength of Materials
This course explores the fundamental principles of mechanics that govern the behavior of materials under various loads. Topics include stress and strain, stress‑load relationships, load deformation, and moments such as axial, torsion, and bending. Additionally, the course covers the fundamentals of mechanics related to deformable bodies and other key concepts and laws, including Mohr's circle and Hooke's law.
What You Will Do- Facilitate classroom lecture and discussions
- Engage students in learning course objectives and topics
- Assess student performance and mentor success in the classroom
- Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission of Grand Canyon University
- Minimum:
Master’s in Civil Engineering or related field - Preferred:
PhD in Civil Engineering or related field, a Civil Engineer PE, and 5 years of experience
- Your unofficial transcript reflecting degree earned with 18 graduate credit hours in the areas listed above
- Your unofficial transcripts for any applicable conferred graduate degrees
