Qualifications
  • Current Arizona Elementary, Secondary, and/or Special Education Teaching license
  • Excellent academic language model in both Spanish and English
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of State and National standards
  • Additional qualifications deemed appropriate by the Board
Performance Responsibilities
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated times and locations.
  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs of students.
  • Demonstrate effective knowledge of, and sensitivity to, a diverse student population.
  • Apply knowledge of second language acquisition.
  • Assist in planning and developing the dual language program beyond each school year, including curriculum development and community outreach.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students’ maturity and interests.
  • Prepare for classes and provide written evidence of preparation upon supervisor request.
  • Guide learning toward curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the physical location and student needs.
  • Implement the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals.
  • Assess students regularly and provide required progress reports.
  • Identify student learning problems and seek specialist assistance when necessary.
  • Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate, complete records as required by law, district policy, and regulation.
  • Assess progress and prepare students for AIMS (Arizona’s Instrument to Measure Standards).
  • Assist administration in implementing student life and conduct policies.
  • Make available to students and parents outside instructional hours when reasonably requested.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Participate in in‑service training programs at the school or district level.
  • Share responsibility for student supervision during the school day.
  • Continue professional growth through workshops, seminars, conferences, and advanced coursework.
  • Demonstrate awareness of Governing Board policies and State statutes related to job responsibilities.
  • Assume duties that may require stooping, reaching, pulling, lifting, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 20 pounds frequently, or 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county, and city statutes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
