Location:

Phoenix College. Full Time. Regular. Salary Range: $53,050.25 - $68,964.82 annually, DOE. Grade: 114.

Work Schedule:

Fall/Spring – Monday to Friday, 8 am–5 pm or 9 am–6 pm; some evenings and weekends may be required. Summer Hours – Monday to Thursday, 8 am–7 pm. Work Calendar: 12 months. Funding Information:

Job Summary

Phoenix College is seeking a dedicated and student-centered professional to join the Academic Advising team as a Student Services Analyst (Academic Advisor). This role supports student achievement by helping students navigate educational pathways toward degrees, certificates, transfer, or workforce credentials. Duties include advising on course selection, academic planning, registration, transfer opportunities, and degree requirements; connecting students with tutoring, testing, counseling, financial aid, and other support services;

contributing to college-wide student success initiatives (including Guided Pathways); collaborating with faculty, staff, and campus partners; and conducting group advising sessions, workshops, and outreach to current and prospective students. The role also supports proactive retention efforts and engages in data-driven improvement of advising practices and student success strategies.

This is a short-term assignment with a projected end date of 06-30-2027, with renewal based on available funds and the business needs of MCCCD.

Essential Functions
  • 45% - Provides professional-level end-to-end Academic Advising to a caseload of students, including one-on-one and group advising, onboarding, retention, and progress toward degree completion. Guides students on goal setting, degree and certificate options, transfer pathways, course selection, registration, and progress; identifies options such as study abroad, internships, and research; connects students with tutoring, counseling, and career services; follows up to ensure learning outcomes are met;

    monitors progress using appropriate reporting tools.
  • 25% - Facilitates change management activities related to Guided Pathways and the case management approach to program advisement; collaborates with academic units and student services to support comprehensive student services; acts as liaison to students, faculty, staff, and external groups; coordinates with College and District partners to promote programs; develops and delivers training for faculty and staff on advising policies and procedures.
  • 15% - Conducts research on program opportunities, industry standards, trends, best practices, and emerging technologies; coordinates projects related to student learning, success, and retention; supports outreach and recruitment efforts; prepares and presents at orientations and information sessions; designs and maintains program resources and materials.
  • 10% - Develops and assesses student learning outcomes; conducts assessments; analyzes program data to gauge student success and program effectiveness; coordinates and evaluates processes; recommends improvements.
  • 5% - Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Sociology, Business Administration, Communication, Counseling, Liberal Arts or Sciences, and two (2) years of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform essential duties.

  • Master’s Degree in Academic Advising, Education, Counseling, Sociology, Liberal Arts, or Sciences discipline
  • Three (3) or more years of experience providing academic advising in a community college or university setting
