Purpose Statement

The job of Teacher
- High School is done for the purpose of providing support to the instructional process with responsibilities for developing student success in academics or skills; supervising students; developing lesson plans and delivering instruction; collaborating with staff; and responding to inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.

This job reports to Site Administrator

• Administers subject specific assessments and tests for the purpose of assessing students' competencies.
• Advises parents/guardians of student progress for communicating expectations and development.
• Assesses student progress toward objectives for providing feedback.
• Collaborates with instructional staff, parents and community resources to improve student outcomes.
• Counsels students or refers them to appropriate staff to improve performance and well-being.
• Demonstrates pedagogical approaches that engage learners.
• Differentiates classroom work to address individualized learning.
• Directs student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers to support classroom program.
• Instructs students to improve academic success.
• Manages student behavior for safe learning environment.
• Monitors students in various educational environments.
• Participates in meetings to convey/gather information; participates on PLC team.
• Prepares written materials documenting student progress.
• Reports health and safety issues to administrator/appropriate agencies.
• Responds to emergency situations as needed.
• Responds to inquiries to resolve issues and provide information.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Skills, Knowledge and Abilities – Skills to perform complex tasks; knowledge of algebra/geometry, instructional techniques; ability to communicate, manage data, work with diverse individuals.
• Education – Bachelors degree in job-related area.
• Certifications – Arizona Teaching Certificate, appropriately certified in core content area, SEI Endorsement required.
• Continuing Educ./Training – Criminal Background Clearance;
  Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card; FLSA Status
  - Exempt.
