As a teacher specializing in educating Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, you’ll play an essential role in supporting their academic and social success. Qualifications&
Experience:
- Valid state teaching certification with an endorsement in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Experience instructing and accommodating Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in school settings
- Comprehensive understanding of IEPs and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Skilled in adapting curriculum and using assistive and augmentative communication technology
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is highly preferred
- Strong advocacy, communication, and organizational skills
- Provide direct instruction and individualized educational support to students with hearing impairments
- Develop and implement effective lesson plans tailored to each student’s needs and IEP goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to foster inclusive participation
- Monitor student progress, document growth, and participate in IEP meetings
- Advocate for necessary accommodations and ensure access to classroom resources and technology
- Remain up-to-date with best practices in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education through ongoing professional development
