Job Purpose

The HOPE Virtual Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality virtual instruction to students using prepared curriculum resources, including lesson plans, slide decks, and student activities. This role supports student academic growth by building strong relationships with students, families, and school staff, actively participating in coaching sessions to strengthen instructional practice, and ensuring that virtual lessons are engaging, effective, and aligned with HOPE Christian Schools' mission and values.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver instruction using provided standardized curriculum and educational materials.
  • Develop and maintain yearly, weekly, and daily lesson plans.
  • Produce accurate, high-quality instructional content that meets established standards and aligns with provided guidelines and samples.
  • Adhere to established workflows and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Build collaborative relationships across the team to ensure schedules and goals are met.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and adapt to shifting priorities and demands.
  • Attend weekly coaching meetings and professional development sessions, and implement resulting action steps.
  • Conduct interim assessments, track student progress, and analyze daily data to determine mastery and diagnose areas of misunderstanding.
  • Grade homework, projects, quizzes, and daily assignments in a timely manner according to established grading expectations.
  • Monitor and communicate student progress through regular phone calls with parents.
  • Report recurring technical issues and other notable incidents to the appropriate staff member.
  • Prioritize student engagement and apply best practices for quality virtual instruction.
  • Collaborate with the instructional team on student educational needs as requested.
  • Build relationships with students to support consistent academic progress over time.
  • Communicate effectively, positively, and proactively – both orally and in writing – with students, parents, and other professionals.
  • Assist in providing information to community groups, schools, or parents about virtual learning.
  • Participate in community-based activities as requested, such as Meet the Teacher and HOPE Parent Teacher Conferences (in-person).
  • Perform other duties as requested or required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree required;
    Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of classroom teaching experience in elementary or middle school.
  • Experience with Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) or Eureka Math/Engage NY Math preferred.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Word, and Power Point.
  • Willingness to be on video for live lessons, with access to a quiet, distraction-free space.
