- $100,000 annual salary paid weekly, with health, dental, and vision coverage starting day one
- Full-time on-site role at an Alpha campus in Phoenix, AZ;
Oklahoma City or Tulsa, OK;
Fort Worth (Keller), Dallas, Plano, or The Woodlands, TX; or Park City (Salt Lake City), UT relocation assistance available - 40-hour work week, 100% in the classroom with K-2 students
You've achieved fluency in structured literacy—Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson, IMSE, or a Master's in reading instruction. You can detect a student's miscue, pinpoint the phonemic breakdown, and create a phonics lesson independent of any scripted curriculum. That's baseline. It's not what sets you apart.
What sets you apart is that six-year-olds get excited when you enter the room. At Alpha, this position is a Guide role first: a dynamic, captivating presence children genuinely enjoy learning with. Your literacy expertise opens the door; your capacity to engage a K-2 group for a full 20-minute workshop is what secures the hire.
Alpha has reimagined traditional teaching. Students move through academic content independently using AI-adaptive applications, with no lectures, textbooks, or predetermined pacing calendars. You create small-group reading workshops informed by live performance data and facilitate motivation sessions that propel students toward their weekly app targets through school currency, leaderboards, and developmentally appropriate game mechanics.
Your initial months focus on building credibility in the classroom. Workshops need to be engaging, appropriately leveled, and demonstrably impactful. Student satisfaction metrics and "love your Guide" surveys directly capture that success. Once you've established it, your responsibilities expand: analyzing AI-generated data to refine instruction, documenting fluency and decoding progress, and influencing Alpha's K-2 literacy strategy as adaptive platforms mature.
Before an offer is extended, you'll submit a short video delivering an engaging story for young children and complete a full-day on-campus session working directly with K-2 students. Low energy with children disqualifies candidates regardless of credential strength.
What You Will Be Doing- Creating and facilitating small-group K-2 reading workshops rooted in structured-literacy approaches (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LETRS, IMSE, or comparable), informed by live student performance data
- Conducting daily motivation sessions that ensure 100% of your students reach their weekly adaptive-app targets, leveraging Alpha's motivational framework (school currency, leaderboards, age-appropriate gamification)
- Delivering and evaluating running records, fluency assessments, and decoding probes to monitor progress and modify subsequent instruction
- Analyzing AI-generated performance insights from Alpha's adaptive learning platforms to personalize instruction dynamically, not solely during advance planning
- Serving as the approachable, high-energy adult your K-2 students are excited to see each day
- Implementing a packaged reading curriculum, scripted lesson plan, or district pacing calendar; you build your lessons directly from student data
- Delivering whole-class lectures; all teaching occurs in small, targeted groups while students engage with academic content through adaptive apps
- Serving as a reading consultant, instructional coach, or district-level literacy specialist; you are in the classroom with children daily
- Managing a conventional classroom schedule - subject by subject lectures, homework corrections, test preparation; your time is allocated to workshops, motivation sessions, and data-informed small-group instruction
- Scoring homework assignments or producing report cards; student advancement is captured in app
