School Monitor

School Monitor - $16.00 per hour DOE. Traditional school year position.

At Wilson School District, we believe that education should be shaped by a sense of purpose. Under direct supervision the School Monitor is responsible for providing the safety of students on playgrounds, buses, street crossings, lunchrooms, hallways, and other school property by enforcing school rules and policies pertaining to student behavior in areas as described above. The School Monitor may serve in one or more of these areas.

The School Monitor may also be exposed to extreme temperatures when working outside.

• Report any difficulties or unusual problems to the teachers and other school personnel
• You must be able physically capable of prolonged standing, walking, and stooping
• May direct students in gathering materials, games, balls, or other items to be used during the activities
• Be able to give special attention to safety factors when weather or other circumstances occur
• Immediately report any injury or unusual problems to the professional staff
• Convey positive communication/interactions with the students
• Restricting students from inappropriate behavior
• Dismiss classes in an orderly manner at the scheduled times
• Checking the playground daily, and appropriately addressing ground and equipment hazards
• Responding appropriately to emergencies
• Adhering to safety practices and administering first aid
• Perform other duties as assigned

• High School Diploma or G.E.D
• Valid Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card.

• High School Diploma or G.E.D
• Experience in a school or childcare environment preferred.
• Valid Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card.

• Basic activities pertaining to the daily functions of the appropriate school

• Critical thinking and problem-solving
• Identifying and responding to hazardous situations
• Written and verbal communication skills while interacting with supervisors, staff, students, etc. to exchange information

• Work independently or as a team and prioritize from a variety of tasks
• Adapt to daily changes
• Promote a harmonious working environment
