Foundation Course Instructor – Medical Programs (Full-Time)

Schedule: Day

Shifts:

8: 00 AM – 5: 00 PM

Department: General Education / Foundation Sequence

Compensation: $21. 57 – $26. 96 per hour

Position Summary

Are you an educator with knowledge in math, science, and medical terminology? Do you like sharing your healthcare knowledge with eager learners? Healthcare professionals are great for this teaching sequence!

Pima Medical Institute is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Foundation Course Instructor for our Phoenix campus. In this day-shift role (8: 00 AM – 5: 00 PM), you will guide healthcare students through crucial foundational modules—including Study Skills ,
Anatomy, Physiology & Medical Terminology ,
Computer Basics , and Math Fundamentals —setting them up for long-term academic and clinical success.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Delivery & Sequence Management:

Module Instruction: Instruct students in foundational healthcare courses, including mathematics, basic computer literacy, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, study skills, and first aid.

Lesson Execution: Design and deliver lesson plans using diverse teaching techniques that appeal to various adult learning styles.

Objective-Driven Planning: Plan instruction to achieve specific course objectives based on student needs and established curriculum guidelines.

Student Engagement & Academic Support:

Evaluation & Grading: Evaluate and grade class work, assignments, and exams within 72 hours of submission.

Advising & Office

Hours:

Maintain regularly scheduled face-to-face office hours to advise, tutor, and mentor students.

Early Alert Intervention: Address academic or behavioral issues directly with students as they arise, alerting the Assistant Dean of Faculty and Student Services Coordinator when support is needed.

Program Operations & Administration:

Compliance & Documentation: Complete required student documentation, including attendance records, incident reports, early alerts, and academic progression files.

Course Enhancement: Review and suggest updates to course syllabi, homework assignments, and classroom handouts through established institutional processes.

Enrichment & Safety: Coordinate guest speakers, field trips, and clinic visits; enforce campus safety and security protocols; participate in faculty meetings, in-services, and graduation ceremonies.

Core Competencies & Qualifications

Core Competencies:

Comprehensive knowledge of Anatomy & Physiology, Medical Terminology, Math Fundamentals, Computer Applications, and Study Skills.

Ability to plan engaging learning experiences, administer effective assessments, and provide targeted student remediation.

Exemplary professionalism, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.

Education: Graduation from an accredited program recognized by the USDE or CHEA in a specialty field or subject taught OR a minimum of three (3) years of job-related training/experience for non-graduates.

Occupational

Experience:

Minimum of three (3) years of occupational (practical) experience in the subject field.

Subject Expertise: Documented background in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology through post-secondary education or direct healthcare industry experience.

Equivalent

Qualification:

Any equivalent combination of training, education, or experience that meets the minimum qualifications will be considered.

Hiring Range: $21. 57 to $26. 96 per hour.

Schedule: Full-Time (Monday – Friday, 8: 00 AM – 5: 00 PM).
