Assigned Schools WORK YEAR: 9.5 Months GRADE 4 STARTING HOURLY RATE: $18.59 - $19.44 (PLACEMENT DEPENDS ON SIMILAR EXPERIENCE HELD AND EDUCATION)

SUMMARYThe Safety Assistant maintains a safe learning and working environment for all students and staff on school campuses by monitoring activities and addressing safety concerns. Protects and secures all District property at the campus level.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEducation, Training, and Experience Guidelines:
High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND some previous experience in security or a related field preferred; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must be at least 21 years of age.
A valid Arizona State Driver's License is required.
Must possess current Red Cross first aid certificate and CPR certificate at time of employment or obtain within first 60 days of employment and maintain on a current status.
Possess an active Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or obtain one within the first 90 workdays of employment.

- Skill in mediating and resolving conflicts.
- Skill in following and enforcing safety policies, procedures, and practices.
- Ability to diffuse physical altercations safely.
- Ability to identify safety hazards and suspicious persons on school campus.
- Skill in completing assignments with minimum supervision.
- Knowledge of pertinent laws related District policies and procedures.
- Ability to maintain necessary records.
- Skill in understanding, explaining, and applying relevant rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
