Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections (ADJC) is seeking qualified candidates for the Superintendent of Education to work under the direction and leadership of the Director in providing supervision of all Juvenile Educational Services. This position will also collaborate with external institutions in regards to the educational programs at the Adobe Mountain School. Comply with all state and federal laws, adhere to all ADJC policies and procedures, and oversee educational programs of Juvenile Corrections.

At ADJC you will have the ability to mentor and collaborate with correctional education staff in a team oriented environment.

Job Duties:
  • Prepares reports, proposals, and policies related to juvenile education
  • Develops and administers education curriculum in accordance with federal and state education laws and regulations
  • Provides supervision of correctional education staff, to include monitoring performance, providing training and on-boarding/off-boarding staff
  • Collects statistical data, analyzes and distributes as required by federal and state law
  • Develops annual education program goals and objectives
  • Manages education grants and drafts proposals for new grant funding
  • Is a member of the agency’s executive management team and is involved in agency strategic planning
  • Partners with the Arizona Department of Education and other government agencies to collaborate and interface on new ideas of education curriculum/programs
  • Performing other duties appropriate to the assignment

Selective Preference(s):

The ideal candidate will possess three (3) or more years of teaching experience (K-12) and/or one (1) or more years in education administration and/or preferred professional experience in correctional education.
