Purpose Statement: The job of CE Childcare Associate I is done for the purpose of providing support to the instructional program within an assigned classroom with specific responsibility for implementing programs for the personal and emotional growth of referred students; assisting in the monitoring of behaviors; and communicating observations to teachers, parents and administrators.
Reports to: CE Childcare Associate V
Essential Functions- Administers first aid for the purpose of providing immediate care for ill, medically fragile and/or injured children.
- Assists students as needed with diapering, toilet training, feeding, etc., to address personal care needs.
- Assists the site manager with age appropriate activities by working with individual or small groups of children (games, art, music, science, language, nutrition, playground, washing hands, etc.) to present and/or reinforce learning concepts.
- Communicates with internal personnel to convey and/or receive information required to perform job functions.
- Completes a minimum of 18 verifiable hours of approved training annually to meet mandated requirements per Department of Health Services regulations.
- Distributes instructional and/or play materials to provide required supplies.
- Establishes positive individual relationships to build student confidence and self‑esteem.
- Implements instructional programs and lesson plans under the supervision of the assigned site manager to present and/or reinforce learning concepts.
- Maintains classroom equipment, work area, and manual and electronic files and records to ensure availability of items, provide written reference, and maintain a safe, comfortable, supportive learning environment while meeting mandated requirements.
- Maintains acceptable behavior standards to ensure that behavior is consistent with district and program policy.
- Monitors individual or groups of students in various settings (snack time, group or individual games, playground activities, quiet time, field trips, classroom, homework time, etc.) to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
- Organizes quiet or active, age‑appropriate indoor and/or outdoor activities to actively participate in learning activities with children.
- Prepares nutritional snacks, lunches, bottles, etc., in compliance with established guidelines.
- Provides ongoing feedback to inform supervisor, teacher, and parents of students’ progress.
- Transfers children directly from/to parents or designee to ensure safety of children and meet District requirements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
