Principal

Under the supervision of the Principal, the Athletic Director coordinates and administers all athletic programs in alignment with the school’s Mission, Root Beliefs, and diocesan policies. The position provides operational, administrative, and strategic oversight for coaches, facilities, athletic budgets, and AIA compliance, while serving as the primary representative for the school's athletic department.

• A. Faith & Mission Integration:
  Strives to achieve the goals of Catholic education by integrating Catholic philosophy of education; moral teaching, and Gospel values into the athletic program; upholds the doctrinal teachings of the Catholic Church;
• B. Program Administration & AIA Compliance:
  Administers all athletic programs in accordance with school philosophy and diocesan policies; schedules contests in consultation with the AIA, Principal, and head coaches; serves as the official school representative to the AIA; and conducts feasibility studies for new or expanded sports programs.
• C. Financial & Facility Oversight:
  Prepares and monitors the annual athletic budget; approves equipment/uniform purchases; leads athletic fundraising with the Finance Director; and collaborates with the Director of Facilities to manage all athletic areas, fields, and facilities.
• D. Personnel Supervision & Development:
  Recruits, interviews, onboards, and evaluates coaching personnel; coordinates contracts with the Principal and Director of Finance; conducts seasonal coaching staff meetings; maintains regular communication with all members of the coaching staff using all available channels; and assists coaches with All-Conference and All-State selections.
• E. Event Logistics & Transportation:
  Coordinates game-day set-up, officials, event staff, concessions, communications, and athletic transportation; in cooperation with the Dean of Students, manages procedures for early dismissals and overnight team travel.
• F. Student-Athlete Support & Academic Monitoring:
  Oversees student conduct and supervision at athletic events and facilities; monitors academic eligibility; ensures compliance with school and diocesan reporting procedures concerning student-athlete injuries; cooperates with the Dean of Students with any student-athlete behavioral infractions; supports college recruiting and scholarship processes; collaborates with the Director of Marketing to inform the school community about athletic scholarships and awards; organizes team banquets and end-of-season awards with coaches and volunteers.
• G. Marketing & Community Alignment:
  Collaborates with the Director of Marketing to publish schedules and promotional materials aligned with school branding; maintains clear communication across faculty, staff, and families.
• H. Other Duties:
  Performs other job-related tasks as assigned by the Principal.
• Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • A. Practicing Catholic (BFOQ).
  • B. Master’s Degree in school administration or related leadership area.
  • C. Principal, Supervisor, or Superintendent certificate issued by the Arizona Department of Education (or commitment to obtain such certification within the first 12 months of employment).
  • D. Comprehensive knowledge of AIA guidelines, policies, and regulations.
  • E. Diocesan Ministry Formation Certification (as required by policy).
  • F. Good physical condition.
  • G. Strong initiative, problem-solving, active listening, delegation, and crisis communication skills.
  • H. Understanding of child development and educational psychology.
