Position Description

Energy Marshal (EM) is responsible for reviewing and coordination of all changes in energy events that happen on site. They will be required to coordinate with key stakeholders associated with each change in energy event to ensure the project schedule is maintained. The Energy Marshall will lead and direct all documents associated with a change in energy events as well as audit the associated documents in the field.

The Energy Marshall will assist in the commissioning process to ensure all onsite trade partners, owner vendors, and third parties comply with the site‑specific Control of Hazardous Energy Requirements.

Position Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from four‑year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • 2‑5 years’ relevant work experience.
  • Possess basic written and verbal communications skills.
  • Detail oriented and highly organized.
  • Highly proficient computer software skills including experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project.
  • Ability to perform identified tasks with minimal oversight.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving skills.
  • Assist in creating and/or maintaining the site‑Specific Control of Hazardous Energy requirements.
  • Review and validate all site‑specific trade partners, vendors, and third parties’ safety programs to meet or exceed the site‑specific requirements.
  • Review and authorize all applications for change in energy on‑site.
  • Assist the Commissioning process to ensure start up activities meet the site‑specific Control of Hazardous Energy Requirements.
  • Effectively communicate with various stakeholders including project owners, Hensel Phelps staff, craft, trade partners, third party entities, and vendors.
  • Participate in the six‑step quality control/safety process.
  • Maintain all documentation associated with the change of energy requests.
  • Conduct audit in field conditions to match authorized applications.
  • Identify hazardous conditions and be able to establish safe boundaries until the process is developed to correct unsafe conditions.
  • Evaluate field activities and ensure processes are followed.
  • Identify, record, and report discrepancies to the Project Management Team.
  • Derive system level operations for schematics and associated documentation to ensure protection of equipment and safety of personnel.
  • Coordinate with utility providers to establish safety conditions for on‑site activities.
  • Identify operational requirements for voltages ranging from low voltage control circuits to high voltage power transmissions up to 230,000 volts.
  • Coordinate with Vendors and trade partners to ensure safe operation of equipment.
  • Participate in First Time Energizations and First of Kind activities utilized throughout the Commissioning process.
  • Provide on‑site training for areas involving electrical safety and electrical awareness for Hensel Phelps and any sub‑contractors who work directly with Hensel Phelps.
  • Request, collect, and catalog submittals from trade partners.
  • Brand and assemble collected materials for project manuals and reports.
  • Integrate with other Facility Solutions and Commissioning Associates.
  • Review, develop, and coordinate systems readiness and pre‑functional and functional performance test drafts.
  • Field observations for verification of construction status.
  • Coordination of and participation in videography efforts associated with owner training.
  • Lead and mentor Facility Solution Associate I and II.
  • Implement activities as identified by Manager associated with Operational Project Readiness (OPR) related to MEPF technical assessment, coordination, and implementation.
