Job Functions

Responsible for assigned aspects of the maintenance and operation of a utility‑scale PV power plant. Duties include monitoring PV plant operation through SCADA, commissioning, testing, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying AC and DC solar PV systems, including inverters, PV module arrays, transformers, switch gear, and metering systems.

Experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a related position or a journeyman‑level certification.
  • Experience operating and maintaining power plant electrical systems, SCADA and controls systems, troubleshooting advanced electrical components, and using procedures to perform equipment preventative and corrective maintenance.
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • College or technical degree preferred.
  • Electrical certifications (state, journeyman, etc.) a plus.
  • Equivalent training in military, utility, or power industry a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to bend, kneel, twist, lift up to 70 pounds, climb ladders, and wear PPE for extended periods.
  • Can work in high and low temperatures, sun exposure, and navigate uneven ground on foot.
  • Must differentiate between colors to manage color‑coded wiring and have good hand‑eye coordination.
Required Skills/Competencies
  • Knowledge of electrical safety and arc‑flash standards.
  • Understanding of operating, switching, maintenance, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Strong safety background with Lockout/Tag‑Out and Job Hazard Analysis experience.
  • Working knowledge of industrial or power facility operation and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of local and national electrical codes.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding electrical schematics and prints.
  • Ability to retrieve relay files and documentation.
  • Fully fluent in CMMS systems for maintenance tracking.
  • Proven computer skills in Windows (Microsoft Office products) required.
  • Effective communication in English, both verbally and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Can work independently with little to no direction within company compliance and work processes.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Can complete Nova Source technician qualification standards within 90 days of hire.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Meet quarterly key performance indicators such as energy generation targets, on‑time planned maintenance, and overall plant efficiency.
  • Promote a safe work environment by enforcing company protocols.
  • Maintain personal safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
  • Comply with Job Hazard Analysis, Pre‑Job Brief, and Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out procedures.
  • Under supervision perform PM work, measuring, reading, testing, and maintenance on all site components.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in planning and executing on‑site projects, installations, commissioning, quality inspections, and performance testing.
  • Write and enforce work and equipment testing instructions, including normal and maintenance operating procedures.
  • Ensure work orders are complete and all documentation and reports are submitted and filed.
  • Attend, participate in, and pass all assigned safety, environmental, and other training.
  • Maintain work area and site housekeeping to 5S standards.
  • Verify SCADA site configuration.
  • Adhere to company vehicle maintenance and safety standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationships
  • Report to the most senior site manager or supervisor depending on site organizational structure.
  • May lead work groups and supervise plant operations.
  • May have tasks assigned by advanced technical staff.
