The Senior Safety Professional assists in developing, implementing, and auditing safety policies to ensure regulatory compliance. This role supports safety programs at job sites, assists other safety professionals, and fosters a strong safety culture by interacting with field employees, management, and customers, providing oversight and technical advice on safety and injury prevention.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate training in-person, virtually, or as e-learning in collaboration with the Training Department.
- Train field leaders on safety protocols, programs, and hazard identification.
- Build and maintain strong internal relationships with field leadership and other team members to drive positive change and strengthen the safety culture.
- Prepare for and respond to natural disasters (e.g., building evacuation drills).
- Build and maintain strong external relationships with clients, subcontractors, and industry or regulatory organizations.
- Assist in injury management by tracking follow‑ups, communicating, and ensuring proper documentation and care for injured employees.
- Assist in developing, communicating, and reviewing site‑specific safety plans to meet customer requirements and ensure adherence.
- Respond to safety incidents with support and consultation.
- Conduct incident investigations and store all necessary documentation.
- Coach partners (field, shop, office) on safe practices and regulations.
- Manage internal and external safety inspections and audits, support job site hazard analysis, and maintain appropriate safety records.
- Review serious injuries and incidents, analyze corrective actions, and recommend preventive measures.
- Identify hazards and recommend controls, developing strategies to mitigate exposure to hazardous environments.
- Select safety‑related equipment such as signage, personal protective clothing, and other tools.
- Provide technical expertise and advice on safety management and compliance.
- Liaise with organizations and authorities to provide requested documentation and follow‑up protocols for audits and remedial actions (e.g., OSHA).
- Assist with injury management by coordinating response, medical care, and return‑to‑work with employees, supervisors, and Risk Management.
- Support and assist with calls to pause work and lead meetings to discuss safety issues and mitigation.
- Conduct research and develop statistical analyses to support management decision‑making.
- Create and maintain evacuation plans, conduct drills, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Basic knowledge of safety/environmental principles and techniques.
- Familiar with Federal, State, and local Environmental Health & Safety regulations.
- Familiar with construction operations.
- Ability to voice professional opinions and concerns in a tactful, authentic, and approachable manner.
- Ability to identify safety‑related exposures and propose corrective actions.
- Demonstrate elements of leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills to build professional relationships.

- Minimum of seven years in construction, maintenance, safety, or operations. Preference for experience in related industries such as mechanical contracting or commercial/industrial construction.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited program in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, or a related field, OR equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Must have a valid driver’s license meeting company requirements.
- CHST or CSP certification required.
