Position: Lineman Hotstick (Deer Valley Transmission Maintenance) Out-of-Town 1

Summary

We will rely on your exceptional work ethic to be responsible for working on new construction projects and maintaining existing underground and overhead facilities. Work performed may involve voltages from 69KV to 500KV.

Minimum Requirements
  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Completed a Registered Journeyman Lineman Apprenticeship Program or an equivalent training program (as approved by APS T&D Technical & Safety Training) plus one year experience as a Journeyman Lineman.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (Class "A") with ability to meet all DOT requirements. Must have at least a Class A CDL permit at the time of application, and a clean driving record.
  • Experience working on all types of distribution lines including 4kv to 21kv and all related equipment required.
  • Requires working with aerial equipment, which has weight restrictions of 300 pounds or less.
  • Must pass written and hands‑on exam and successfully demonstrate climbing skills.
  • Necessary overtime work will be required.
  • Out-of-Town crew – reasonable distance requirements will be waived for out‑of‑town positions in Hotstick.
  • The established headquarters for this position is subject to relocation to the Hub West Service Center, a facility that will be located 38 miles west of downtown Phoenix, on a date to be determined by the Company.
Testing Information

A written paper and pencil test will be administered.

A test using a computer with keyboard will be administered.

A hands‑on skills test will be administered.

A physical ability test will be administered.

Testing is only administered to referred candidates. Email will be the method of contact with job applicants for test scheduling.

Role Type

Onsite:
Requires work to be performed in the field and/or at an APS facility. Depending on the responsibilities of the role, this may include, but is not limited to, working at a power plant, job site, or in the community.

  • Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).
  • Role types are subject to change based on business need.

Hybrid:
Employees in hybrid roles work both in their home offices (virtually) and alongside their colleagues (in person).

  • Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).
  • Working from a home office requires adequate technology and an appropriate ergonomic set up.
  • Role types are subject to change based on business need.

Home based:
Home based employees primarily work from their home offices and come into an APS facility on an as‑needed basis.

Eligibility

Must live or relocate within reasonable distance to the headquarters. Reasonable distance is defined as one (1) hour for Metro and State Region locations. Reasonable distance for Trouble men, Local Representatives, and Substation Technicians is defined as thirty (30) minutes for Metro locations and forty‑five (45) minutes for State Region locations.
