Job Title:
Drone Operator - Flight Support Engineer
Job Location:
Phoenix, AZ 85043 (Onsite - +2 weeks of travelling to Seattle at the start) Job Duration: 5 Months Contract with Possibility of Extension Pay Rate: $35.00/hr to $40.00/hr
- SIM evaluation (drone simulation test; remote controller, client-provided laptop).
- Local candidates will do the interview in-person at clients office.
- They will have multiple day to prepare for the official simulator flight test.
- Relocation candidates will be shipped a SIM evaluation kit.
- 30 minute - 1/hr behavioral video call with a client's manager.
Drone Operator Role
- This position is searching for a skilled Part 107 certified operator with extensive experience operating drones via a remote control.
- The qualified candidate will act as an operations specialist assisting in the development and test of cutting-edge safety‑related technologies.
- The role includes mission planning and lightweight maintenance duties.
- The candidate should demonstrate attention to detail, a safety‑oriented attitude, flexibility, and enthusiasm for cutting‑edge technology.
- This individual will also conduct operation readiness activities and logistics planning as needed.
- The candidate will join a Research and Development team working on inventing and developing new transformative experiences.
- Data Collection
- Working a 2nd shift - 3 pm to 11:30 pm
- Drive to off-site work locations daily (work vehicle will be provided).
- Work variable shifts and schedules, including weekends when applicable. Schedule changes frequently depending on certain daylight conditions.
- Overtime may be required and approved based on work assignment/deliverables.
- 2+ years of commercial drone piloting experience (bigger commercial drones).
- Strong pre-flight planning process
- Employees must, with or without reasonable accommodation, be able to lift up to 50 pounds on some occasions, stand/walk for up to 8-10 hours (with breaks), and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
- Experience with the commercial UAS industry
- Aviation safety experience as a Safety Officer or similar
- Needs more than just DJI; remote control airplanes would work too
- Must be able to fly in manual mode- specifically, no GPS
- Must have professional experience flying drones, with no less than 50 hours logged flight time
