Heavy Civil Estimator

Overview

The selected Heavy Civil Estimator will play a key role in winning public and private work in the local market with a heavy emphasis on DOT and infrastructure. Prior experience estimating heavy civil projects of similar size and scope for a self-performing contractor is required for serious consideration. E:

• Assist the Chief Estimator and other team members with preparation of bid packages.
• Review progress on projects and adjust schedules as needed.
• Maintain and update database of relevant resources and historical data.
• Keep records of all project details and documentation such as contracts, bids, and correspondence.
• Determine initial production rates.
• Estimate materials costs and labor hours needed to complete projects.
• Solicit material and subcontractor pricing (subbing dry utilities, striping, landscape, signage).
• Review finished products to ensure that they meet quality standards.
• Work independently and as a member of a collaborative team.

• 5+ years of heavy civil estimating experience
• Bachelors Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Math or related discipline from an accredited institution
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specs to determine work requirements
• Prior experience working with HCSS
• Familiarity with Agtek
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage and prioritize competing deadlines
