Technical Project Coordinator – Structural & Ornamental Steel
Grizzly Iron Inc. is a growing structural steel and architectural iron company serving high-end residential and commercial projects throughout Arizona.
We are seeking a detail-oriented, technically capable Technical Project Coordinator to support both our structural and ornamental divisions. This role plays a critical part in moving projects from approved drawings into fabrication readiness.
This is not a clerical role. We are looking for someone who understands drawings, materials, and construction flow and who can help prevent mistakes before they reach the shop.
The Technical Project Coordinator supports project managers and shop leadership by reviewing drawings, preparing material takeoffs and cut lists, tracking approvals, coordinating RFIs, and ensuring projects are ready for fabrication.
This role bridges the gap between CAD/detailing, project management, and production.
Responsibilities Drawing Review & Pre-Production Support- Review structural and ornamental shop drawings for completeness and coordination
- Verify dimensions, material callouts, and revision control
- Assist in identifying discrepancies before fabrication
- Track drawing approvals and revisions
- Prepare material takeoffs from approved drawings
- Generate and verify cut lists for shop production
- Coordinate and place material orders with vendors
- Track material lead times and flag scheduling risks
- Track RFIs, engineering responses, and approvals
- Support project managers in maintaining project timelines
- Ensure projects are fabrication-ready before release to the shop
- Communicate clearly with CAD, PMs, shop leadership, and vendors
- Experience in structural steel, ornamental iron, fabrication, or construction coordination
- Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and material flow
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced shop environment
- Proficient with spreadsheets and project documentation tools
- Experience with steel detailing environments
- Experience generating cut lists
- Familiarity with fabrication workflows
Compensation
$65,000 - $95,000 yearly
