Electrical Engineering
Overview
Evergreen Innovation Group (EIG), part of the DPR Family of Companies, is seeking an Electrical Estimator with a strong background in renewable energy systems, including microgrid solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The Electrical Estimator will support the development and delivery of renewable and clean energy projects across utility-scale, commercial, and advanced technology markets. This role focuses on negotiated work and early engagement, collaborating closely with owners, developers, engineers, and trade partners to deliver accurate, creative, and value-driven project estimates that align with EIG’s mission and long-term sustainability goals.
Estimators will play a critical role from early conceptual budgeting through project handoff, supporting projects that advance energy resiliency, decarbonization, and grid modernization.
- Manage projects from initial conceptual estimate through final estimate, project award, and handoff to operations.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for renewable energy projects, including solar PV systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), electrical balance of plant, and interconnection infrastructure.
- Develop conceptual budgets, feasibility studies, and early-stage cost modeling from schematic-level documentation.
- Identify scope gaps, clarify assumptions, and ask the right questions to deliver a complete and accurate project cost evaluation.
- Collaborate with customers, developers, architects, engineers, and internal teams to guide cost-informed design decisions and project strategies.
- Provide innovative estimating solutions to complex challenges related to equipment procurement, long lead times, interconnection requirements, permitting, and constructability.
- Maintain a strong understanding of unit costs for renewable systems (PV modules, inverters, transformers, switch gear, energy storage equipment) and related installation labor.
- Develop variance analyses, value engineering options, and cost comparisons as designs evolve.
- Prepare complete and professional estimate packages and presentations that clearly communicate project costs, risks, and opportunities.
- Support staffing and execution planning in collaboration with operations and project teams.
- Develop bid packages, instructions to bidders, scope clarifications, and technical exhibits for renewable and electrical scopes of work.
- Manage the bidding process, including soliciting subcontractor and vendor pricing, evaluating proposals, and assembling bid tallies.
- Make subcontractor and vendor award recommendations; participate in negotiations and finalizes scopes with trade partners.
- Actively participate in, and may lead, cost and budget presentations for owners, developers, and internal stakeholders.
- Support proposal development efforts (RFPs, RFQs), including estimating narratives and participation in formal presentations.
- Build and maintain relationships with renewable energy customers, developers, and industry partners.
- Participate in value engineering and constructability reviews to optimize cost, schedule, and performance.
