This Opportunity

WSP is seeking an energetic and responsive Senior Electrical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary Process Infrastructure and Design team on a full‑time basis. The position is located in Phoenix, Arizona, with additional locations to be considered in Salt Lake City, Utah;
Lakewood, Colorado; and Houston, Texas. The team works on environmental infrastructure projects, including industrial facilities, water and wastewater plants, landfills, contaminated soil sites, oil & gas, surface and underground mining infrastructure, and related electrical systems.

Our ideal candidate is self‑motivated, communicates proactively, and possesses a skill set in electrical infrastructure design, owner engineering, and project delivery. Responsibilities include leading electrical engineering designs, equipment upgrades, arc‑flash hazard analyses, low and medium voltage power distribution system design, switch gear, motor control centers, drives, wiring diagrams, lighting systems, photometrics, data and communication systems, emergency and standby systems.

Your Impact
  • Demonstrate interpersonal and leadership skills to communicate effectively with team members and service leaders.
  • Lead electrical engineering design from concept through completion for complex or large‑scale projects.
  • Develop and perform quality reviews for detailed electrical engineering documents and technical specifications.
  • Serve as Engineer‑of‑Record for projects and/or project components of varying complexity.
  • Lead and manage electrical design teams, scope, schedule, and budget for the electrical discipline.
  • Design LV and MV voltage systems, including calculations, equipment data sheets, specifications, control panels, motor schematics, single‑line diagrams, hazardous area classification, lighting protection, grounding, and lighting plans.
  • Review and provide senior review of electrical computer models (ETAP, SKM, Easypower, etc.) and produce technical reports on analyses such as load flow, short circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash, and harmonic analysis.
  • Evaluate and select heavy industrial and mining electrical systems and materials.
  • Prepare and revise brownfield and greenfield documentation across design and construction phases, including plans, diagrams, and installation details.
  • Prepare drawings, engineering and bid packages for contractors and clients.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship for junior and intermediate engineers, designers, and drafters.
  • Conduct quality assurance and implement quality control across projects within the service line.
  • Lead and supervise multiple electrically focused technical projects.
  • Make responsible and ethical decisions regarding company resources and conduct, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Minimum of ten years’ experience successfully performing essential duties on mining, oil and gas, water treatment, and other EPCM projects.
  • Lead electrical design and engineering teams.
  • Experience with design‑build project execution.
  • Proficiency in power system design and distribution (MV/LV) and power system studies.
  • Direct or oversee preparation of design documents, layouts, schematics, installation details, bid packages, and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to work within a team.
  • Strong planning, organization, and execution skills.
  • Developed critical thinking and problem‑solving skills for technical analysis and decision making.
  • Ability to assertively direct others, including subcontractors, to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adhering to WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
  • Flexibility to work schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites (approximately 10% overnight travel).
