PAY RATE: $75-85XX

Hybrid schedule - 3 days on site/2 remote

    Answer/Skill Set: The candidate should demonstrate a systematic approach to troubleshooting, including the ability to conduct failure analysis, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. They should be familiar with Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) methodologies and provide examples of past experiences.
  • We are seeking a skilled contractor to support the development of Honeywell's Electric Power Generators and Motors. In this role, you will leverage your expertise as a mechanical engineer to assist the team with generators and electrical motors, focusing on testing, troubleshooting, and stress analysis. A strong understanding of electrical generators and motors is essential. You will be responsible for a variety of engineering support tasks, including data identification and processing, technical documentation, and program or project support.

    Additionally, you will lead small project subtask teams to ensure compliance and timely completion of tasks. You will also plan cross‑functional activities to enhance work processes and procedures while mentoring lower‑level employees.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Lead the engineering efforts in the development of electric generators and motors utilized in the aerospace industry
    • Coordinate the design of electric motors and generators, applying expertise in electromagnetic analysis, magnetic principles, stator and rotor design, component selection, electric machine manufacturing processes, and testing to develop and qualify products
    • Serve as the focal point for system‑level integration of the machines into larger systems, collaborating with both internal Honeywell teams and customers.
    • Act as the primary communication liaison for customers regarding technical inquiries
    • Oversee Validation and Verification Activities for electric generators and motors, including the creation of compliance matrices and verification methodologies.
    • Develop comprehensive plans for research, development, and qualification testing related to electric machine development programs
    • Contribute to new business proposal activities
    • Support Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) activities for fielded products
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering
    • 8-15 years of professional experience in engineering
    Experience
    • Proven experience in the design of electric motors and generators, with specific expertise in permanent magnet, induction, and synchronous wound field machines
    • Proficient in electric machine design software tools (Motor‑CAD, SPEED, etc.)
    • Expertise in magnetic Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software tools (ANSYS Maxwell, Siemens Mag Net, JMAG, etc.)
    • Skilled in using MATLAB for calculating electric machine performance and efficiency
    • Experience in environmental test support, failure analysis, and production support
    • Demonstrated ability to lead technical efforts for development programs
    • Strong capability to prepare requirements specifications, technical reports, proposals, trade studies, subassembly and parts levels, and presentations
    • Familiarity with military and commercial aircraft specifications
    • Knowledge of Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) activities
