Henderson is looking to hire a Senior Electrical Engineering Manager to join their Business Sector. A Senior Engineering Manager leads a team of engineers, drives technical excellence, and ensures operational efficiency through discipline-specific leadership, resource management, and staff development while guiding the sector s technical vision and strategy.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the coaching culture across a team of technical staff, aligning goals with organizational objectives, and ensuring scalable leadership development and technical mentorship within the sector.
  • Build strong leadership teams and promote engagement across multiple levels within a sector.
  • Oversee performance management for staff, set expectations for Engineering Managers, monitor sector-wide trends, and adjust plans to match workload.
  • Collaborate with sector leadership on business planning, team capacity, forecasted needs, and cross-sector alignment to maintain effective staffing strategies.
  • Cultivate psychological safety, inclusion, trust, and high-impact relationships.
  • Communicate discipline-specific goals to Engineering Managers and their teams, translating strategy into clear expectations.
  • Act as a career coach, providing performance feedback and guidance on skills progression and advancement to senior roles.
  • Practice effective employee relations and manage personnel within the discipline.
  • Provide technical guidance, applying engineering judgment to solve complex challenges.
Quality Assurance
  • Apply quality strategies and ensure quality standards are met for the discipline.
  • Utilize quality assurance tools, processes, databases, and industry best practices relevant to the discipline.
  • Drive continuous improvement to enhance engineering processes and operational efficiency.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and adopt new technologies to improve performance.
  • Support design and implementation of process improvements with safety, regulatory, and environmental compliance.
Sector Operations
  • Work with sector leadership on resource allocation and staffing to fit project scopes.
  • Monitor earned value generation and advise on tools and efficiencies for accurate data monitoring and reporting.
  • Ensure feedback loops on engineering initiatives, staffing, and KPIs function smoothly.
  • Serve as a consultant on interviews for technical production staff within the sector.
  • Work with engineering leadership to ensure adherence to technical processes and standards; assist with problem solving as needed.
  • Manage employee performance and operational needs, including evaluations, development, discipline, and timesheets.
Professional Engineer & Engineer of Record

(Where applicable)

  • Operate to high industry standards consistent with holding a PE license and being enabled as an Engineer of Record, including making sound engineering decisions and delivering quality work with accountability to projects.
  • May be enabled as an Engineer of Record with additional involvement and accountability for signing and sealing projects.
