Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking an Entry Level Traffic and Intelligent Transportation Systems Engineer for our Phoenix, AZ office. The role focuses on providing professional and technical services in engineering design, code consultation, and construction phase services for a wide variety of private and public sector clients. You will work on large and complex engineering projects and provide a comprehensive range of professional planning and design, systems engineering and technical assistance, program and construction management, and operations and maintenance services.

This position is expected to begin as soon as possible.

As a Traffic and ITS Engineer, you will build your analytic and design skills working on a variety of projects. Under the supervision of experienced engineers, entry‑level engineers conduct engineering designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings. You will use computer software to solve complex engineering problems and collaborate with diverse teams of engineers across the region.

Responsibilities
  • Supports planning studies and reports for new and updated plans, programs and regulations.
  • Reviews or assists in the review of development proposals and site plans for conformance with codes, plans and regulations.
  • Prepares and presents detailed reports on development proposals to government bodies.
  • Collects a variety of statistical data and prepares reports and maps on topics such as census information, land use, transportation tax base data, and occupancy rates.
  • Under direct supervision, conducts field evaluations and assessments.
  • Performs and evaluates lighting analysis and lighting design for local and state agencies.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of Traffic/Transportation/ITS‑related internship or work experience.
  • Engineer in Training certification.
  • Previous internship with a similar AEC firm is a plus.
  • Micro Station/AutoCAD experience.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Applicable coursework and demonstrated interest in Transportation/Traffic Engineering and/or Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
  • Prior design experience with Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) as it relates to traffic engineering, signal design, ITS design, plan production, project estimates and specifications.
  • AGi‑32 Analysis experience is a plus.
Additional Information
  • Relocation is not available for this position.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000 per year.
