Position Overview

We are seeking an Assistant Mechanical Detailer to support mechanical design and drafting efforts across a diverse portfolio of projects and clients. This role assists engineers and project teams by preparing detailed mechanical drawings, applying drafting standards, and executing design revisions using industry-standard CAD software. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and eager to continue developing technical drafting expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and preparing detailed mechanical drawings from sketches, engineering notes, and verbal instructions under the guidance of engineers.
• Compile initial drawings, calculations, and design concepts into complete preliminary design models for review and refinement.
• Apply company, client, and project drafting standards to control schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment connection drawings.
• Coordinate with engineers and project managers to understand project requirements and verify design accuracy.
• Support drawing production activities including layout, detailing, drafting, and problem analysis.
• Collaborate with designers and drafters across multiple disciplines.
• Communicate effectively with internal teams and external clients as needed.
• Execute design changes and manage drawing revisions throughout the project lifecycle.
• Maintain and continuously improve proficiency in current CAD systems.
• Perform additional duties as assigned while complying with all company policies and standards.

Required Qualifications

• Education & Experience (one of the following required):
• Bachelor’s degree in Drafting Technology or a related field with 2+ years of related experience, or
• Associate degree with 3+ years of related experience, or
• High school diploma or GED with 4+ years of progressive detailing and design experience
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Micro Station, and Excel
• Ability to learn and adapt to new design software and tools
• Experience using both 2D and 3D CAD applications
• Basic understanding of mechanical design principles, calculations, and design systems
• Familiarity with multi-discipline engineering environments and related design software
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-based project environment
