Safety Specialist
The Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring the implementation and administration of all safety, health, and environmental requirements onsite during installation and sustaining activities. This role involves problem‑solving, auditing, inspections, and oversight of safety personnel, incident investigation, and training development with a service‑oriented approach towards our employees and contractors.
Responsibilities- Develop, review, evaluate, and implement health and safety policies, programs, and procedures.
- Increase health and safety awareness at all levels.
- Investigate all serious personal injury and near‑miss incidents, assist with root cause analysis, and track solutions to completion.
- Investigate hazardous working conditions and report to senior staff.
- Respond to employees’ safety concerns and track solutions.
- Maintain all records in accordance with regulatory requirements and prepare reports.
- Provide direction for contract safety personnel.
- Conduct worksite safety inspections to identify hazards and collaborate on controls.
- Attend all safety meetings.
- Assist in the development and review of site safety plans.
- Coordinate on‑site customer‑specific safety training.
- Conduct weekly safety audits and submit reports.
- Arrange for health and safety testing and evaluations.
- Act as liaison with customer personnel and key contracted personnel.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs.
- Coordinate training in areas of safety including first aid, CPR, and accident prevention.
- Analyze work processes and perform risk assessments.
- Act as liaison with regulatory agencies.
- Support a culture of safe work practices and safety excellence.
- 2+ years EHS experience in a professional environment (manufacturing or construction).
- Experience in creating safety plans (SOPs).
- Participation in at least 2 safety audits professionally.
- Knowledge of accident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Understanding of OSHA regulatory requirements.
- General knowledge of safety and occupational health methods and practices.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience working with contractors and construction safety.
- Ability to creatively deliver and document training.
- Organizational abilities to manage multiple projects.
- Strong writing skills for process documentation and report preparation.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a team member.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and take initiative.
Skills & Qualifications
- BCSP certification (CHST, OHST, ASP, GSP) preferred.
The position is based onsite at TSMC, within semiconductor clean room environments. The role follows a Monday to Friday day shift schedule. Casual work attire is expected with provided PPE, including long pants, long sleeve shirt, hard hat, and glasses.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.00 - $48.00/hr.
