Job DescriptionCDM Smith is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern for a Fall 2026 co‑op. The candidate will work with a dynamic team on a diverse portfolio of public, federal, and industrial projects.
CDM Smith’s structural engineering experience encompasses a comprehensive array of services, including:
- Existing Structures:
Disaster Response (Flooding, Wind, Earthquake, Snow, Fire);
Design of Stabilization (Temporary Shoring and Bracing);
Structural Condition Surveys & Assessment;
Seismic Evaluation - New Structures:
Water Treatment Plants;
Pump Stations;
Earth Retaining Systems;
Shallow & Deep Foundations;
Industrial Facilities
- CADD Design Project; trained to learn CDM Smith CAD standards
- Web searches and product data updates
- Excel spreadsheet development (macro routines, repetitive calculations)
- Structural library cataloging
- Field inspection work
- Shop drawing reviews
- Currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering
