A Field Service Engineer serves as the direct liaison with customers, collaborating closely to install, maintain, and upgrade semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
Responsibilities include:
- Installation and integration of multi‑million dollar precision wafer fabrication systems through customer handoff.
- Utilizing advanced diagnostic tools (oscilloscopes, DVMs, software diagnostics) to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems.
- Reviewing equipment engineering specifications and providing feedback for factory improvements.
- Building and maintaining customer satisfaction through clear, consistent communication and knowledge sharing.
- Providing global support, including travel to customer sites, manufacturing, and R&D engineering labs.
- Capable of operating in high‑pressure and ambiguous situations.
- Ability to solve complex electro‑mechanical problems.
- Creative problem‑solving to generate abstract solutions.
- Ability to routinely lift, pull, or push objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Proficiency with hand tools, meters, scopes, and specialized equipment.
- Experience in electronics technology, mechatronics technology, or microelectronics.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally.
- Flexibility to work shifts, overtime, standby, on‑call, and holidays when required.
- Exposure to cramped work spaces, mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards; must observe safety precautions.
- May be required to work rapidly for prolonged periods, bending, stooping, reaching, or walking.
- Work overtime and travel on short notice, including unscheduled call‑in from home and other shifts as needed.
- Opportunity to work compressed shifts.
