Lead Design Engineering Position
Lead and mentor a team of structural engineers working on new nuclear facilities and upgrades to existing nuclear power plants. Provide technical guidance on structural analysis and design of steel frames, concrete members, equipment, and foundations, while collaborating across disciplines and directly with clients.
Responsibilities- Lead and coordinate a team of structural engineers on nuclear facility projects, including new construction, upgrades, and modifications.
- Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, steel design, and reinforced concrete design to meet project objectives.
- Prepare, review, and guide structural calculations, design specifications, and drawings.
- Assist in developing and reviewing designs for steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment, and foundations.
- Travel to client and vendor sites for design reviews, plant site visits, and construction coordination.
- Lead others in leveraging data, automation, and AI tools to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost‑effective designs.
- Oversee engineers who use scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) for automation of engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs.
- Maintain adherence to design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, N690, ACI 318, and ACI 349.
- Provide technical leadership to ensure design deliverables are quality‑controlled.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
- Minimum 10 years of experience on project teams designing and analyzing structures.
- Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP
2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS. - Familiarity with design codes and standards including IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, N690, ACI 318, and ACI 349.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams.
- MS Civil Engineering degree.
- On‑site construction support experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) license.
- Additional education or experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields.
