Advanced Systems Engineer
Honeywell Aerospace Technologies is hiring an Advanced Systems Engineer to join our Aerospace Electronic Solutions team. You will help design, develop, and integrate Honeywell’s Next Generation Avionics systems, delivering advanced avionics solutions that support fixed wing and Urban Air Mobility customers.
You will be involved throughout the entire system lifecycle, contributing to the definition, integration, validation, and verification of advanced avionics platforms. Your work will directly support both laboratory and on aircraft testing environments, ensuring system performance, reliability, and certification readiness.
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Key Responsibilities- Perform requirements analysis, authoring, decomposition, and verification/testing
- Define and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
- Integrate peripheral avionics equipment in a modular avionics environment
- Validate and verify peripheral systems using data collection tools (e.g. Datatrac)
- Troubleshoot laboratory and on- aircraft system issues
- Test development software loads and interpret fault and event logs
- Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders
- Support project coordination and execution across teams
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (sciences, technology, engineering, mathematics)
- 4 or more years of engineering experience
- Experience in systems, avionics, aerospace, defense, or related technical field with hands‑on work on system requirements, integration, validation, and/or verification, using tools such as DOORS, Jama, or equivalent
- Knowledge of the systems development lifecycle (ARP-4754 familiarity preferred)
- Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) systems definition, integration testing, validation, and verification of interfaces (Avionics Serial Busses – Arinc 429, Arinc 422, RS-232; Point to Point Ethernet; CAN Bus; Analogs/Discretes)
- Experience interpreting Fault/Event Logs
- Knowledge of system certification requirements and documentation
- Integration of aircraft simulation with modular avionics hardware
- Diverse and global teaming and collaboration
- Effective communicator
- Self‑motivated and able to work independently, taking initiative to get things done
- Ability to adapt to project changes and manage multiple complex tasks
