Bridge Intern

The Bridge Intern will support bridge design and inspection activities as part of HDR’s bridge program. The role includes participation in project teams, assisting with design documentation, and completing tasks under supervision.

• Connect with recent college graduates and company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs
• Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures
• Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager
• Assist with bridge design tasks
• Contribute to bridge plan production and related design documentation
• Assist with bridge inspections
• Collaborate with project teams for bridge related design activities, development of plans and construction estimates
• Participate in mentoring and young professional programs, engaging with company leaders and recent graduates
• Perform other duties as needed

• Prefer 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA
• Demonstrated knowledge of software packages related to field of study/industry
• Current enrollment in a Civil Engineering program from an accredited college or university. Should have enrolled in structural design classes (i.e., concrete design, steel design)
• Strong interest in transportation engineering and infrastructure design, primarily bridge design
• Familiarity with Micro Station is a plus
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take direction from supervisors

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
• Possess strong problem‑solving and communication skills
• Basic Microsoft Office skills
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must
