What You Will Do
- Follow blueprints, guidelines, and/or diagrams to ensure product specifications and tolerance levels are met.
- Perform troubleshooting, calibrations or modifications of hardware, fixtures and software.
- Use measuring and diagnostic tools to test and modify systems and components/assemblies.
- Maintain records of production and report any issues while following standard procedures.
- Interpret data and accurately record time changes, test data, parts usage, etc.
- Utilize microelectronic, electronic, optical, or electro-optical equipment, including computers and lasers.
- Provide technical solutions to engineering.
- Ensure systems and components meet established specifications.
- Rework and repair various electrical and electromechanical systems and components/assemblies as needed.
- Assist engineering with the design of printed circuit boards and prototypes (wire and insert parts).
- Receive training and certification in multiple skills.
- Train and mentor new technicians.
- Work 1st Shift: Monday to Friday, 6am to 2:30pm.
- You may occasionally need to provide weekend and holiday support to meet customer needs.
- Exposure to:
- Products of various weights and sizes
- Equipment with moving parts
- Chemicals that may emit fumes
- Wear static‑control and personal protective equipment to minimize safety risk.
- Perform tasks with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Distinguish colors and meet vision requirements.
- Bend, stoop, reach, turn as needed to place units in test stands, pick up totes, place units on rack, etc.
- Use hands for extended periods to perform testing and troubleshooting tasks (grasping, holding, picking, placing, twisting, fine manipulation).
- Stand for 2‑hour increments without an opportunity to sit.
- Lift 25 pounds.
- Transport product with or without product carts.
- Technical Proficiency:
Gain hands‑on experience reading blueprints, using test equipment, and operating mechanical and electronic tools to meet precise engineering specifications. - Quality and Compliance:
Learn to document test data, record acceptance results, and adhere to Collins Aerospace quality systems, safety standards, and continuous improvement initiatives. - Process Discipline:
Develop skills in following structured work instructions, managing production schedules, and maintaining traceability through SAP and other digital systems. - Team Collaboration and Problem‑Solving:
Build communication and troubleshooting abilities by working cross‑functionally, participating in audits, and supporting process improvement efforts.
- HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g., G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
- Experience with component‑level troubleshooting.
- Experience with schematics or blueprints.
- Experience with using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and/or spectrum analyzers.
- Successfully completed the RTX Skill Bridge internship program.
- Associate’s degree in Electronics and/or certification in Electronics.
- Experience in the aerospace industry.
- Experience with thermal tables, vibrational tables, and test rigs.
- Experience with electronics in the testing field.
- 3‑4 years of relevant experience in a component‑level troubleshooting environment.
- Successfully completed the RTX Skill Bridge internship program.
