Lead Project Engineer – Honeywell Aerospace Technologies

Honeywell Aerospace is advancing the next generation of propulsion technologies for business aviation, and we’re looking for a project engineer who’s ready to lead high‑visibility projects that span the full engine lifecycle from concept and development to certification, production, and fleet sustainment.

We are seeking a Lead Project Engineer with proven experience in engine build‑up (EBU), nacelle integration, and power plant installation to drive execution across the HTF
7000 turbofan engine family. If you excel at coordinating complex projects, guiding cross‑functional teams, and managing technical and program risks, this role offers the chance to shape a best‑in‑class propulsion product line.

As a Lead Project Engineer, you’ll collaborate across world‑class engineering and business teams, suppliers, and aircraft OEM partners to ensure disciplined program performance and seamless propulsion system integration throughout every phase of the lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Lead planning, scheduling, and execution of development and sustainment projects to meet scope, schedule, and cost targets.
  • Provide day‑to‑day leadership of cross‑functional engineering teams through design, analysis, test, certification, and production.
  • Partner with aircraft OEMs to define requirements, resolve technical issues, and maintain alignment with program objectives.
  • Direct suppliers on technical scope, deliverables, configuration, and schedule expectations; negotiate tradeoffs to achieve program commitments.
  • Maintain system‑level requirements, interfaces, configuration control, and documentation for the integrated power plant system.
  • Lead root‑cause investigations and drive timely corrective actions for production and field issues.
  • Own cost accounts and manage budgets, forecasts, resource fill rates, and earned value performance.
  • Identify program risks and opportunities and lead mitigation actions to improve technical, schedule, or cost outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Present technical and program recommendations to leadership and customers and support formal program reviews.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in design, development and/or test of gas turbine engines, nacelle systems, engine control systems or other complex mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and methods (e.g. 'Microsoft Project', 'Agile Scrum/Kanban', 'Earned Value Management System').
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven leadership across complex technical programs, with cross‑functional coordination and project management responsibility including scope, schedule, budget, and earned value.
  • Expertise in FAA 14 CFR Part 33 and Part 25 certification of engines and nacelle systems including engine build‑up and externals.
  • Direct experience with root‑cause investigations, cost reduction initiatives, or new product development.
  • Systems engineering and requirements management experience across multidisciplinary hardware and software teams.
  • Customer‑centric mindset with a passion for winning and urgency in execution.
  • Effective communicator who builds strong working relationships and explains complex concepts clearly.
  • Adaptability and initiative, including tolerance for ambiguity and ability to work independently.
  • Effective prioritization of time and resources.
Benefits

Honeywell employees are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including employer‑subsidized Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance;
Short‑Term and Long‑Term Disability; 401(k) match;
Flexible Spending Accounts;
Health Savings Accounts;
Employee Assistance Program; and Educational Assistance. Parental Leave, Paid Time Off for vacation, personal business, sick time, and parental leave, and 12 paid holidays are also provided.
