Smyth Industries is currently searching for an individual with Water Infrastructure Industry experience as a Waterworks Estimator to help enhance our current team. We provide full-service electrical, civil, manufacturing, engineering and general contracting services for the water and reclamation industry.
The ideal candidate will foster teamwork and create a positive work environment in a fast-paced industry, while helping our Arizona clients engineer, rehabilitate, manufacture and construct water distribution and treatment infrastructure.

Responsibilities Analytical and Critical Thinking- Generates initial labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor budget estimates for new projects including estimate refinements.
- Partners with field leadership on change orders, refine, and present to Vice President/President for approval. Once approved, create contract modifications.
- Compares budget costs to previous internal pricing information, analyzes quantities and all scope items to assist in value engineering.
- Solicits material pricing detail including subcontract items as required.
- Analyzes and applies labor productivity unit extensions based on understanding of labor productivity rate development and definition of cost.
- Performs various estimates and process take-offs including manual and/or digitized material quantity take-offs.
- Utilizes preliminary drawings and sketches, conversations, and field reviews, extracts details and quantifies all material and labor required, including site indirects estimated to be necessary to complete a project.
- Develops detailed material take-offs, bills of materials, collects material and subcontract quotes, and itemizes labor person-hour estimates.
- Collaborates with Director of Construction Services and other leaders on which opportunities to pursue after assessing project risk.
