Under general supervision, collaborate with others to give direction on and improve performance of site Industrial Control Systems.

• Follows and promotes Freeport-Mc Mo Ran  safety and environmental programs and practices, communicates safety implications related to Process Automation (PA) and directs Industrial Control System (ICS) cybersecurity practices and policies.
• Gives directions on Process Automation engineering topics and projects.
• Develops and participates in engineering project proposals, and engineering designs, and has ability to verify the quality of project work meets site Process Automation standards.
• Maintains the performance of ICs hardware and software. Participates in identifying opportunities to implement process improvement and optimization through automation while improving Operator and Operations effectiveness.
• Participates in the implementation and maintenance of the Process Control Network (PCN) while maintaining plant performance, cyber security, and plant historian systems.
• Specifies and reviews specialized, analytical and advanced instrumentation solutions to be integrated into the site IC.
• Participates in Process Automation equipment life cycle management and develops plans proposals, and budgetary estimates to ensure equipment remains current and up to date.
• Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED and seven (7) years of Engineering experience relevant to Process Automation, or
• Bachelor’s degree in a Scientific discipline and three (3) years of Engineering experience relevant to Process Automation, or
• Master’s degree in a Scientific discipline and two (2) years of Engineering experience relevant to Process Automation.

• Emerson Delta
  
  V and Rockwell PLC experience
• PLC, HMI, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and/or Distributed Control Systems (DCS) manufacture training or certification
• Experience with plant process historians or similar database storage and retrieval systems
• Experience with IC/PCN network architecture, communication and security
• Experience in or understanding of mining and mineral processing and systems
• Familiarity with or training in NFPA 70 and NEC or Electrical Journeyman Training

• Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
