GTI Fabrication is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of complex mechanical systems and subsystems for modular infrastructure products. This individual will be responsible for translating system requirements into robust, manufacturable mechanical designs while providing technical leadership throughout the product lifecycle.
The Mechanical Engineer will own major mechanical subsystems from concept through production release, supporting engineering analysis, design reviews, manufacturing integration, supplier collaboration, and continuous product improvement. This role requires a hands‑on engineer capable of balancing performance, safety, compliance, manufacturability, serviceability, and cost considerations while working cross‑functionally across engineering, operations, and supply chain teams.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design and development of major mechanical subsystems including:
- Enclosures
- Structural assemblies
- Thermal and HVAC systems
- Ducting and airflow systems
- Piping systems
- Equipment mounting structures
- Service access features
- Translate system‑level requirements into detailed mechanical designs and engineering documentation.
- Define interfaces, constraints, design assumptions, and acceptance criteria.
- Drive simplification, modularization, and standardization efforts to improve manufacturability and product reliability.
- Ensure designs meet performance, safety, quality, and compliance requirements.
- Perform and review engineering analyses including structural, vibration, thermal, fatigue, sealing and ingress protection evaluations, transportation and lifting assessments; establish design margins and verification approaches; develop engineering justification packages supporting design decisions and product validation activities.
- Partner closely with Manufacturing, Quality, NPI, and Supply Chain teams to ensure designs are producible and repeatable.
- Create and review detailed engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs, and release documentation.
- Support engineering change management activities, including impact assessments and implementation plans.
- Resolve manufacturing, assembly, commissioning, and field‑related mechanical issues.
- Maintain configuration control and as‑built accuracy through disciplined revision management practices.
- Lead mechanical design reviews and provide technical guidance across engineering teams.
- Mentor junior and mid‑level engineers in engineering best practices, documentation standards, and problem‑solving methodologies.
- Support development of engineering standards, design guides, reusable modules, and best practices.
- Drive root cause investigations and corrective actions for mechanical failures and quality issues.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across products and engineering processes.
- Collaborate with:
- Systems Engineering on requirements, interfaces, and verification activities.
- Electrical Engineering on penetrations, cable routing, mounting schemes, and service access.
- Structural Engineering on load paths and structural integration.
- Manufacturing Engineering on production readiness and process improvements.
- Suppliers and Procurement on technical reviews, specifications, and manufacturability concerns.
- Support successful product execution from concept through deployment and sustaining engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- 3+ years of mechanical design experience supporting industrial, energy, modular, or engineered‑to‑order products.
- Strong experience designing…
