Staff Chemical/Civil/Environmental Engineer 1 – Phoenix, AZ
Full-time technical support role on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. Responsibilities include field sampling, permitting, compliance, and project documentation.
Duties/Responsibilities- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety by performing work in accordance with the company and client health and safety protocols.
- Collect, synthesize, and analyze data using industry-standard procedures.
- Conduct due diligence assessments and environmental compliance audits.
- Perform field sampling for soil, groundwater, ambient air, and vapor intrusion investigations.
- Prepare environmental permit applications and plans for air quality, stormwater, SPCC, land reclamation, aquifer protection, and industrial discharge.
- Assist with the operation and maintenance of groundwater remediation systems.
- Support studies evaluating the technical and economic feasibility of remedial alternatives for site cleanup.
- Draft technical sections of project communications and reports.
- Assist with technical scopes of work and cost estimates for small to medium-sized projects.
- Prepare documentation of subcontractor activities, including daily field reports and tracking spreadsheets.
- Prepare bid packages and solicit bids from subcontractors and vendors.
- Proactively manage assigned tasks to support project delivery on schedule, within budget, and consistent with client-agreed quality standards.
- Provide assistant project management support, including assistance with proposal writing and routine invoice review.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- 0‑2 years of related engineering experience.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification strongly preferred, or ability to obtain within six months.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
- Ability and interest in obtaining professional engineering registration.
- Ability to travel to temporary assignments across the United States.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Reliable transportation for travel to project sites and the office.
- Ability to troubleshoot and manage mechanical parts and equipment independently in the field.
- Ability to comply with the Guiding Principles and Code of Behavior outlined in the company charter.
- Ability to comply with company and client health and safety protocols.
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER training preferred but not required.
