Job Description & How to Apply Below

Location: Phoenix, Arizona

Work Type: On-site / local market role

Travel: Local / regional

Compensation: $80,000-$130,000 base + commission up to 21%

Package: Vehicle allowance + gas card + strong benefits

The Opportunity

I’m hiring for a BAS Project Sales Representative in Phoenix with a well-established national mechanical contractor investing heavily in its Building Automation division across the U.S.

This is a strong opportunity for someone from:

  • HVAC / mechanical sales
  • Energy solutions
  • Technical BAS or HVAC backgrounds with commercial ability

The role is focused on growing BAS project revenue across the Phoenix market, with the support of an established mechanical platform, existing customer relationships, engineering support, install capacity, service capability and national business backing.

This is not a tiny integrator trying to build credibility from scratch.

It is also not a huge OEM where you are boxed into one product line and a narrow sales lane.

This is a proper build role, but with real infrastructure behind you.

Why This Role Is Interesting

Most BAS sales roles give you one of two things.

Freedom with no support.

Or support with no freedom.

This sits somewhere better.

You’ll have the chance to build and grow a local BAS market, but with the backing of a national mechanical contractor that already has:

  • Project delivery teams

The focus is open protocol BAS
, mainly Niagara / Distech
, across plan/spec, retrofit, service, upgrades, owner-led opportunities and mechanical cross-sell.

For someone who understands BAS, HVAC, building performance or technical solution selling, there is a lot to go after here.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for developing BAS project revenue across new and existing clients in the Phoenix market.

Day-to-day, this will include:

  • Developing new BAS project opportunities
  • Growing existing mechanical, service and controls relationships
  • Identifying retrofit, upgrade, modernization and replacement opportunities
  • Cross-selling BAS, service and mechanical project work
  • Working with owners, facility teams, engineers, mechanical contractors, consultants, GCs and internal delivery teams
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, equipment and site conditions
  • Surveying buildings and identifying system issues or upgrade needs
  • Helping shape technical and commercial solutions
  • Building proposals that clearly explain scope, value and business case
  • Maintaining an accurate sales pipeline through CRM
  • Supporting clean handoff to delivery once work is won

The work will include a mix of plan/spec projects, retrofits, BAS upgrades, service-led opportunities, system modernization, energy-focused improvements and owner-direct opportunities
.

What They’re Looking For

You do not need to come from one exact background.

The key is that you understand buildings, systems, customer pain and how to turn technical problems into commercially sensible solutions.

Strong fit backgrounds include:

  • Mechanical service or project sales
  • Energy solutions sales
  • Technical BAS / HVAC professionals looking to move further into sales
Key Requirements
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, mechanical systems, electrical components or Building Automation Systems
  • Experience selling, developing, estimating or supporting technical building solutions
  • Ability to identify BAS retrofit, upgrade, repair, replacement and modernization opportunities
  • Comfortable reviewing drawings, specifications, equipment and site conditions
  • Ability to understand customer needs technically and financially
  • Strong relationship-building skills with owners, contractors, engineers, facility teams and internal stakeholders
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to develop pipeline and win work
Nice to Haves
  • Experience selling plan/spec controls work
  • Service agreement or maintenance sales experience
  • Existing Phoenix / Arizona market relationships
  • Background in mechanical contracting, HVAC sales, energy solutions or building performance
Compensation
  • $80,000-$130,000 base salary, depending on experience
  • Commission up to 21%
  • Strong benefits package
  • Strong medical, dental and vision coverage
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid vacation, sick time and holidays
  • Short-term and long-term disability
  • Vehicle allowance + gas card
Commission Structure

The sales incentive plan is based on booked gross profit and scales as performance increases.

  • 0-50% of annual booked gross profit goal: 9%
  • Maintenance sales are credited at 15% of bookings
    .

For someone who can build pipeline and win work properly, the upside is genuinely strong.

Who This Suits

This role suits someone who wants to build, not babysit a spreadsheet.

Someone who can create opportunity, build trust, sell technical value and work closely with delivery teams to make sure what gets sold can actually be delivered.

If you understand BAS, HVAC, mechanical systems, building performance or energy-driven facility upgrades
, this is worth a conversation.
