BEPC Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to support a leading aerospace customer in the validation and review of complex engineering designs and drawings.
This role is ideal for a seasoned mechanical engineer with extensive expertise in ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), engineering drawing interpretation, and aerospace component design. The selected candidate will serve as a technical authority, ensuring engineering drawings and models meet design intent, manufacturing requirements, and industry standards while mentoring less experienced engineers.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with cross-functional aerospace engineering teams to develop innovative solutions that meet customer requirements.
- Participate in product development and production support activities throughout the engineering lifecycle.
- Serve as a technical validator for aerospace engineering drawings, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards.
- Review engineering drawings and 3D models for proper application of ASME Y14.5 GD&T principles and design intent.
- Validate engineering models and assess design accuracy and completeness.
- Evaluate designs for manufacturability, producibility, and cost effectiveness.
- Support and advance model-based engineering practices and standards.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Participate in technical validation initiatives within the Engine and Power Systems organization.
- Identify and resolve drawing and design discrepancies to maintain engineering quality and compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- 10+ years of mechanical design experience.
- Extensive expertise in engineering drawings and ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Strong experience reviewing and validating engineering drawings and models.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering specifications and standards.
- Experience with gas turbine engine components and aerospace propulsion systems.
- Proven application of ASME drawing standards and GD&T methodologies.
- Deep understanding of engineering drawing preparation, interpretation, and review processes.
- Experience supporting detailed design phases of product development.
- Familiarity with legacy drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and coaching abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Experience coordinating engineering activities and leading small teams.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and proactively drive results.
- Pay Rate: $60.75 - $68.75/hour
- Duration:
Initial 3-month contract - Potential for extension and/or conversion to a full-time employee based on business needs and performance
