Data Center Engineering Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Data Center Engineering Specialist who can expertly engineer and install data center equipment. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in tackling complex projects while ensuring seamless integration of various components. Your expertise will cover all elements of data center operations, including infrastructure, racking, cabinets, network and server equipment, cable distribution, and power management solutions.

• High school diploma required; some college or technical training is a plus.
• A minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in a data center environment; equivalent field experience will be considered.
• BICSI certifications are an advantage.
• Advanced proficiency in software applications, including MS Word, Excel, and Access.
• Quick learner of customer-specific engineering databases and software.
• Strong multitasking abilities and a talent for meeting strict deadlines.
• Exceptional leadership, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to analyze and interpret complex technical documents, including specifications and blueprints.
• Experience in drafting reports, business correspondence, and engineering specifications.

• Independently manage time‑sensitive projects with minimal supervision.
• Interpret site survey data to create accurate bills of materials.
• Conduct and document site surveys as necessary.
• Develop Bills of Materials and firm price quotes for engineering projects.
• Compose detailed engineering specifications tailored for data center solutions.
• Resolve engineering discrepancies and understand procedures for change orders and material billing.
• Simultaneously oversee multiple engineering projects.
• Update customer drawings and databases efficiently.
• Mentor and guide detail engineers in procedural and engineering best practices.
• Communicate regularly with customer representatives including field engineers, data center managers, and construction contractors.
• Act as a problem solver for customer issues with a strong independence.
• Support internal teams including field engineers and installation personnel, providing troubleshooting guidance.
• Comprehend and adhere to the format of engineering specifications.
• Utilize equipment drawings and material specifications effectively, demonstrating a proactive approach to obtaining information.
• Draft and modify customer drawings using tools such as Visio and AutoCAD.
• Initiate site visits as needed to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Apply knowledge of customer quality documents and engineering standards to ensure compliance.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

• Logical problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities regarding telecommunications installation and engineering.
• Ability to define problems, gather and analyze data, and draw valid conclusions.
• Capacity to interpret a wide array of technical specifications and translate them into actionable engineering documents.
• Proficient in using common engineering tools, including measuring devices and calculators.

• This role requires the use of hands 90% of the time for computer work and paperwork.
• Employees will primarily sit at a desk but may occasionally need to walk between offices and other areas.
• Some duties may require lifting items up to 15 pounds, such as boxes of materials.
• Close vision is necessary for reading documents and working on computers.
