Operations Manager
Summary
APS is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Supervisor of Energy Control Center (ECC). In this critical role, you'll guide ECC Operator staff to ensure seamless coordination of activities that uphold the highest standards of reliability, safety, and efficiency. You will set priorities, drive operational excellence, and ensure compliance with company policies.
What You Will Do- Oversee daily operations of the Energy Control Center (ECC) Operator staff.
- Collaborate across departments:
Operations, Engineering, Planning, Training, and Compliance to support system reliability and stability. - Provide training and assessments for Transmission Operators and Balancing Authority personnel.
- Support the team with communication flow and step in as needed.
- Resolve operational and technical issues within the unit.
- Monitor expenditures to ensure responsible use of resources.
- Strong leadership in building and developing a high‑performing team through coaching, feedback, and growth opportunities.
- Effective relationship‑building across disciplines to align technical support and tools with operational needs.
- Commitment to excellence in training delivery and evaluation.
- Clear, timely communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Sound judgment in managing resources and operational decisions.
Rotating 12‑hour shifts.
Required Qualifications- High school diploma or GED and a minimum of four (4) years of demonstrated experience with transmission operations, balancing authority operations, maintenance, or other relevant experience.
- Engineering or equivalent bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline highly preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience in field operations and/or maintenance) and a minimum of four (4) years of demonstrated experience with transmission operations, balancing authority operations, maintenance, or other relevant experience.
- Current NERC certification;
Reliability Coordinator preferred. - Prior leadership experience preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of the Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT), Open Access Same Time Information System (OASIS), NERC Reliability Standards, WECC Regional Reliability Standards, NAESB Business Protocols, and the FERC Standards of Conduct. Must possess the ability to implement strategic direction related to all aspects of balancing authority and transmission operations.
- Excellent transmission operations knowledge, effective supervisory skills, project leadership, and communication skills.
